The British Society for Haematology (BSH) Paediatric Special Interest Group’s (SIG) primary role is to represent paediatric haematology and address its training, manpower and educational needs. The SIG is comprised of BSH members and non-members who are involved in the care and study of childhood blood disorders.
The group holds the Paediatric Haematology Symposium event annually in the winter. A second educational meeting might be held during the ASM, subject to the approval of the BSH Programme Committee. The group also provides education at the RCPCH annual meeting. The SIG meets outside of the educational events twice per year face to face and by teleconference as required.
The SIG, formerly the Paediatric Committee, was established to bring together all those involved in childhood blood disorders. The SIG is open to BSH Members, non-members, clinicians, paediatricians, trainees, nurses or part of the wider healthcare profession.

Paediatric SIG Workplace Manpower Survey
The Paediatric Haematology workforce survey remains open. We are grateful for the sites that have submitted data but we are still missing data on a handful of sites; mostly London based. Please could I ask any sites that I have yet to complete submission to do so ASAP as the information is being used to support ongoing discussions with GMC and NHSE. Previously submitted data can also be updated at the link if there are any changes to staffing or trainees that you think we should be aware of.
A full summary of the data and an update of the meetings with NHSE will be timetabled during the BSH conference by the Paediatric SIG.”
