The External Affairs Committee contributes to the relationships we hold with other medical professional bodies and regulators, especially those with congruent goals to the BSH. It feeds into work the BSH does around workforce and other policy areas that fit into the Society's overall agreed strategy.
We are looking for a Chair for the Committee, preferably taking up the role as soon as possible. The Chair will lead the Committee for two years, fully supported by BSH staff and Ron Finlay Communications, an agency the BSH has instructed to support our external affairs work. The Vice-Chair will support the Chair for two years and take the role of Chair for a two-year term in 2024.
No special skills are needed for the role, but you need to have a strong interest in workforce issues and raising awareness of haematology as a speciality. The external affairs work of the BSH is in its infancy and this is an exciting time to help shape an important, expanding area of work.
Time commitment: there are three Committee meetings a year (these can be face-to-face, virtual or hybrid as requested by the Committee), and ongoing communication with Committee members and BSH staff.
If you are interested, please submit your application form by Friday, 28 October 2022. If you have any queries, please email our Head of Engagement, Theresa Crossley.
